Now we have a clean slate to install our new lockset. To remove the handle, simply remove the two screws on the interior side of the door. Go ahead and remove the other components of the deadbolt as well, including the strike plate on the jamb side of the door. It’s a good idea to have the door open for this part so you can hold onto both the interior and exterior side of the deadbolt.

You’ll see two screws on both sides of the deadbolt lever. What we’ll cover today are some basic steps common to most locksets on the market. Every lockset is different, so removing yours and installing your new one might have some slightly different steps. The first thing we’ll do is remove the old lockset, starting with the deadbolt. First we’ll remove the old handle set, then we’ll install the new one. Today we’re going to install this new lockset which comes complete with a handle and a matching deadbolt lock.

The gizmo works but it is sloppy and clunky and At some point I hope to find something a bit more elegant. I will paint the entire area with florescent paint as a precaution. The "strike plates" have sharp pointy projections on them and are dangerous. The quality of hardware is generally ok but the inner handle is pretty bad. Wire or cable cutters are also needed but not mentioned.

It is definitely NOT one size fits all unless you can figure out how to adapt it and have several sized of drill bits not specified in the needed tools. The instructions assume that your track rails have holes for the strike plates but at least in my door that wasn't the situation. The directions are not very well written and there are a few steps that aren't mentioned. I received it today and promptly went to install it. Sadly this was just about the only aftermarket garage door lock assembly available to me and despite some sketchy reviews I took a chance.
